We recognize the importance of expanding the publishing industry to include more diverse voices, particularly BIPOC authors. The authenticity found in BIPOC books is not only necessary but also highly sought after. As a Black women owned business, we have established this platform to provide a pathway similar to traditional publishing for authors ready to publish now, even if they don't have an agent. At Books & Things Publishing, we welcome submissions from ALL authors, embracing the spirit of self-publishing.

Danielle knew that writing would always be a significant part of her life. Before she self-published her first book, The Holly-day After, she decided it was essential to put all her works under one umbrella, or brand. The first name that came to her mind was Books & Things Publishing, a Black women-owned business that resonated with her vision. It was simple, easy to remember, and allowed room for future growth or change. When she went to secure the LLC, Danielle felt it was a sign when the business name was available. So, in January 2021, just a week before she submitted her final files for her first book, she had a logo created and added the business information to her first copyright page, paving the way for her journey as a BIPOC author in the self-publishing realm.

Now, in 2024, Danielle has 5 published books to her name! More excitingly, she leads a Black women owned business that supports a group of 12 BIPOC authors, along with 1 editor, 1 video designer, 1 formatter, and a team of illustrators, all collaborating to publish diverse books for kids and adults!
As Books & Things Publishing continues to grow, we are all learning and working together with the shared goal of self-publishing the best product possible!
